MOFs Beyond Adsorption

Dr Mehrdad Asgari is a chemical engineer and materials scientist at the University of Cambridge, where he is Director of Studies, Tutor, and Bye-Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College.

He completed his PhD at EPFL (ISIC, Sion) on the characterization of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for gas adsorption and separation applications (supervised by Prof. Wendy Queen; defended 31 January 2020).

He then held postdoctoral positions at EPFL Valais Wallis and EPFL-ISIC, focusing on porous materials for gas capture/separation and the computational study of gas adsorption in porous solids. From 2021 to 2025, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Adsorption and Advanced Materials group at Cambridge, supported by an SNSF Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowship and a UKRI-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship.
